Step-by-Step Installation Guide

If you're ready to safeguard your home, here's a simple installation guide for the Temporary Sewer Backflow Prevention Unit.

  1. Locate Your Sewer Clean-Out: Start by finding the sewer clean-out outside your home. This is often a capped pipe protruding from the ground and is usually located near the foundation of your house.
  2. Prepare the Clean-Out: Unscrew the cap of the clean-out pipe. Make sure to wear gloves, as there could be sewage residue present.
  3. Insert the Backflow Prevention Unit: Carefully insert the unit downinto the open clean-out pipe. Push it down until you feel the unit stop. Give it a few additional pushes to make sure it comes to the t-shaped corner and enters the sewer pipe going to the road.
  4. Pressurize the System: Connect the unit to a bicycle hand pump and add 20 PSI to the system. This will stop all sewer in and out of your home. Install the flood prevention cap tightly. (Plan accordingly as this device will stop sewer in and out of your home).
  5. Test the Unit: All water should be stopped in and out of your home. Once installed, leave promptly and wait out the storm.

Removal

After local authorities confirm that the sewer system is safe to use:

  1. Release the air pressure from the bladder.
  2. Remove the device and reinstall the sewer cap.

Ensure the device is removed before using any plumbing fixtures, such as toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, washing machines, or other appliances draining into the sewer line.

We recommend replacing the Backflow Prevention Device after a single use, as exposure to sewer chemicals may compromise its integrity. However, at your discretion, the device can be thoroughly cleaned and inspected for damage before storing it for future use.
